Do you work with children and families in Wisconsin?
Do you have a need for trauma-informed trainings, organizational development, and/or consultation?

This project is designed for YOU!

The focus of the Wisconsin Hawthorn Project is to support and guide child and family-serving entities in their organizational development of trauma-informed policies and practices. Trauma informed organizations recognize the impact of traumatic stress on families and communities and use this understanding to inform policies, practices, and interactions with those served. Sustaining organizational change toward becoming a trauma-informed organization requires comprehensive and creative planning and training to understand trauma-informed principles and implement practices that reduce re-traumatization and promote resiliency.

Mindfulness Resources

Mindfulness is the ability to pay attention to what is happening. Children innately pay attention to the details of their surroundings, their bodies, their relationships…especially in play. Join one of our free trainings to explore how mindfulness can enhance the relationship between children and their caregivers.

Nature as Healer

Studies across the world have demonstrated that nature exposure and nature immersion can bolster someone’s resilience against the long-term impacts of stress and trauma exposure, as well as support self-regulation in-the-moment. Attend one of our trainings to see how “trauma-informed care” is inherently “nature-informed care.”

Horses as Healers

The horse-human relationship has generations of transformational power. From PTSD to Autism Spectrum Disorders, horses have shown that they are willing partners in overcoming pain and stuck patterns in our lives. Attend one of our trainings to learn first-hand how horses provide in-the-moment feedback that can transform leadership and parenting dynamics.
